A Grand Celebration of Simple Sacrifices

Every day of our lives reflect the sacrifices made by every parent for their child. The fact that it happens every day makes it normal, and even simple to many. However, it remains a mutual belief in our society that, whether we realise or not, parents are responsible for how the next generation turns out.

TCS College Sarawak (previously known as Twintech College Sarawak), a private college in Kuching, Sarawak, wishes to celebrate the “simple sacrifices” made by every parent for their child in its 14th Convocation Ceremony held in one of Kuching’s top hotels last Sunday, 5 November 2017.

As more than 700 proud parents of TCS College graduates converge to Kuching from every part of Sabah and Sarawak, the unusual highlight of the ceremony was a poem recital by a group of students entitled “Pengorbanan Ayah dan Ibu”. Dedicated to the parents of the graduates of TCS College, every heart in the hall was touched by the students' heartfelt recitation of the poem, which reflected their appreciation for the guidance and sacrifices of their parents which made possible their academic success.

TCS Harmony, TCS College’s very own choir, who were trained by various prominent Sarawakian artistes such as Mal Imran and Nadhar Idruze, made merry the ceremony with performances of various songs to celebrate the success of every parent and graduate who were present. Their talents were outstanding, and the spirit and atmosphere in the hall was uplifted as many sang along to the familiar tunes they performed.

Also present to celebrate TCS 14th Convocation Ceremony was YB Datuk Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Sarawak, who is a staunch supporter of TCS College Sarawak’s mission and vision of using education to break the poverty cycle in Sabah and Sarawak. Together with Encik Azri Nor bin Abdul Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of TCS College Sarawak, they awarded the certificates to 280 graduates for Foundation in Business, Diploma in Technology Management, Diploma in Technology Management (Accountancy), Diploma in Computer Science (Information Technology), and Degree in Bachelor of Management (Technology).

TCS 14th Convocation Ceremony was also a proud day for best students Nur Shakirin bt Mohamad Ayubhan (degree), Hartikah bt Abd Harrys (diploma) and Mohd Nazreen bin Hussain (foundation). Their speeches when receiving the awards were a testimony to the quality of graduates produced by TCS College not only academically, but also emotionally, as they craftily worded their appreciation to all those made their academic journey a success. It was evident that they have made their parents proud as they publicly showed their appreciation to their parents on stage.

Special recognition was also given by TCS College to 2 of it’s lecturers - Cik Aida Junina Dol @ Don and Cik Lissa Natalia Linom, both of whom personified TCS College’s passion and dedication in educating the future generations of Sabah and Sarawak. They each received a certificate and monetary gift as a token of appreciation from the college.

The TCS 14th Convocation Ceremony was truly a reflection of TCS College Sarawak’s dedication to deliver quality education to Sabahans and Sarawakians and its effort in creating all-rounded graduates who excel in their studies. TCS College Sarawak is also determined to equip its graduates with the soft skills that are much needed by the various industries in developing the states of Sabah and Sarawak.

Having graduates with a 98% employability rate and securing employments in reputable organisations, it is no wonder that TCS College Sarawak was recently awarded 5 Stars by MyQuest.
